Holiday Photo Card Facebook Contest

I bet you can find a Christmas Card that fits your family’s style. Our designers have created very unique photo cards, which are printed onto heavy card stock using a digital offset press printing system for a high-end look that is sure to impress friends and family.

And exciting news: we are giving 25 Holiday photo cards away to one lucky family who simply submits a photo on our facebook page!

It’s very easy to enter this contest.

Upload your best (current) family photo to our facebook wall. Collect votes from friends and family by having everyone you know “like” your photo. The family whose photo receives the most votes (must have at least 150 to be eligible), will be sent a coupon code for 25 free Christmas cards to be redeemed by November 30th.

The contest starts September 18th and runs through September 30th. The winner will be announced and notified on October 1st.

OFFICIAL RULES (totally simple)
1. Upload a family photo to our wall.
2. On the photo description, include the text, “Vote for our photo so we can win Holiday Cards from CardChef.com!”  (and putting a nice little note about us couldn’t hurt anything either :)
3. Tag your image back to yourself to help kick-start your votes.
4. Encourage your facebook friends to hop on and vote.
It’s really that easy!

Your picture submission can be professional, taken by you, or taken by the tripod, or even taken from a tree while you’re hanging upsidedown. Create an awesome family photo that shows your style and that will collect those votes! Check out some examples to get you going. . .

Homecoming and prom 2012

We always love to see modern, professional photos submitted on our site. You can be collecting these photos all year round for use on your Christmas photo cards or Holiday photo cards. Homecoming, Prom, and other high school activities like volleyball practice, basketball games, baseball games, or football games are a great time to catch important photos to share with friends and family during the holidays. Some photographers, such as Eldeen Annette of Northern Colorado, offer specialized mini shoots to capture important events during the year. The best part about having a professional photographer at your events is not only having a visionary artist capturing your life events, but that everyone (including the “normal” photographer at these events… mom usually) gets to be included in the memory making.

Ask your photographer if they capture life events or offer mini sessions for special activities that you would like a professional eye to photograph. You will never regret having these images.

Fall Family Photography for your Christmas Photo Cards

Fall is the perfect time to get family pictures for your Christmas Photo Cards. The images will be fresh for friends and family, and the colors of Fall simply can’t be matched by other seasons.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to get your family pictures taken professionally for use on Photo Christmas Cards. Camera phone pictures or even regular digital pictures taken with your point-and-shoot camera are generally low resolution, have poor lighting, and can be ‘noisy’ or grainy, even if taken under ideal circumstances. This type of image may be great for sharing on facebook and blogs, but when it comes to printing high-end Holiday cards, a high-end photo should accompany it for the most stunning photo cards available.

Here is an example of how awesome professional Fall photography can be, taken by Eldeen Annette Portrait Photography. The colors pop like gold and will print incredibly well on any of our Holiday photo cards.

Personalized Holiday Cards for your family

The possibilities are so varied when it comes to choosing your family picture Holiday Cards this year, that getting a good idea of what you would like before sitting down at the computer to search is practically required. There are a number of things to consider in order to make your holiday or Christmas cards more personalized and matched to your family’s personality and lifestyle.

First, you should consider your style. Most Personalized Holiday Cards with photos websites have a fairly simple design style throughout their entire collection. Photo Card Chef has made a goal of providing considerably more design options, style options, price options, and card types so that every family can find a photo card that suits their personal taste. Like most photo card websites, we do offer simple greeting card designs in order to better show off your beautiful family photos, such as our Simple Holiday Photo Cards, which feature multiple photos and minimal designs or Christmas type graphics.

We even offer a variety of vintage and retro card options for the modern family.

The Second thing to consider is how many photos you would like to use. If you have a large or extended family you would like to feature, select a folded or tri-fold card that has multiple pictures. Some of our designs feature up to 13 photos on just one card, making our site the right choice for larger families, or even small families that had a great professional photo shoot they would like to share with friends and family. These cards even leave room for a personal greeting or message. Some of our cards have enough room to write a short year-end letter, describing how the past year was for each member of the clan. We recommend a card that has both options: a lot of images and a lot of room for customized letters. This Square Tri-Fold Holiday Photo Card is an example of how sophisticated our design can remain, even with so many pictures. We lay our our cards in a way that is aesthetically appealing, high-end, and unique.

Thirdly, consider your budget when choosing photo cards, but don’t go for the cheapest cards out there. Super inexpensive photo cards will result in a cheap-looking, poorly printed photograph (as these cheap ones are always printed onto photographic paper – flimsy and with poor coloring and contrast). You can find less expensive cards that are still press printed onto heavy card stock on both sides, which simply features your family better than a cheap photograph you might find at more well-known companies who sacrifice quality in order to get quantity. We offer cards ranging in price from just $1.25 all the way to $6.00 per card to reach any family’s budgetary needs.

Photo Christmas Card Wording Ideas

Sometimes it can be difficult to think of just the right thing to say on your Christmas Photo Cards Customized to your family style. We have come up with a number of ideas to help you get started. We always recommend personalizing your text to make your holiday cards special and, well, more personalized! Friends and family want to hear from you, not the card company. So take a few ideas, put your own spin on them, and add a greeting of your own.

Photo Card Chef has a number of Christmas cards that allow for a full-size family letter – a detail very unique to our site. So you can keep it simple, or elaborate on your past year. We want you to be able to create a more custom card that simply can’t be found anywhere else with better designs, more styles, more photos, and more options.

We love it when our customers incorporate scriptures and Christmas carols. Here are a few other basic wording examples to get your ideas flowing:

Merry Christmas and a bright new year.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Christmastime is here. Happiness and Cheer!

The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.  Psalm

May the Lord bless your Christmas and family for years to come.

As we welcome this time of year let your hearts and homes be warmed with His joy, peace and love.

Hark the herald angels sing, glory to our Lord and King.

His star still shines with the light of love.

Merry, Merry Christmas.

May God bless you and yours this Christmas season and into the new year.

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.  Behold… Isiah 7:14

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, who is Christ the Lord.  Luke 2:11

Love the Lord, for he is the reason we celebrate this season.

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace.

Peace, joy and love this holiday season and always.

Happy Holidays.  May the new year bring your home laughter, your heart love and your life laughter.

Happy 4th of July from Photo Card Chef | Personalized Christmas Photo Cards

This is a great time of year to catch family photos for your Personalized Christmas Photo Cards. The sun is out, everyone is happy, and gathered together for festivities. Have a friend take a basic shot or two (or three or four) of the entire family, and then have fun catching those beloved candid moments of kids laughing and playing, grandma and grandpa taking it easy, and even the family dog catching a frisbee. Challenge yourself to use new angles and points of view with your camera. And if you have a DSLR Camera (we are partial to Nikon), read up about the Manual setting and your F-stop (Aperature) and shutter speed, which will better allow you to get those creamy backgrounds and correct exposure. These are the type of images that extended family and friends love to see during the Holiday on your customized Christmas photo cards.

Here’s the trick, though, and maybe the hardest part: Keep these photos to yourself until your Christmas Greeting Cards are sent out. Facebook has given us this new style of itch to share pictures as soon as we are in possession of them. Resist the urge! Designate these pictures to family scrapbooks and the Holidays only. You won’t regret the exercise in self-control.

Our last tip when taking pictures today: Choose your favorite 2 or 3 Christmas Cards from our site to get ideas on the type of pictures you need to be able to use your chosen card to the fullest. For instance, don’t only take vertical pictures if your holiday card has horizontal images. Also be aware of required “negative space” when a photo, text, or graphic overlays another image.

From all of us at Photo Card Chef, happy 4th of July! Be safe, careful, have fun, and take pictures!

Google and Christmas Photo Cards

It really is amazing how much power Google has over all us internet companies. On one hand, we really owe our success to them, but then they can also devastate us with one small (ok, large in this case) algorithm change. Maybe we’re being over dramatic here, but with over 200 graduation photo cards on our site, a few articles, and graduation categories, you would think that we would be a relevant result of a search for “graduation photo cards.”

We’re not sure what they’ve done to the way their search engines work now, but if you type “Christmas Photo Cards” in the web images tab, you get 1/100 images that are actual Christmas Photo Cards. Five months ago, that ratio would have been more like 75/100. So, I guess we’re confused, Google. Help us out and give us some clues about your new system.
